ALONSO CUP FEAR

MARCOS ALONSO was last night charged with violent conduct and could now be banned for Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final against Southampton.

The Spaniard (right) is under investigation for his lunge on Saints striker Shane Long during Saturday’s Premier League clash at St Mary’s. He appeared to stamp on the Irishman’s calf, and Saints boss Mark Hughes said afterwards: “It was a poor challenge – it should have been a red card in my view.” Alonso was not punished by ref Mike Dean at the time, but now faces a retrospective three-match ban if found guilty.
