RUSSIA RACISM PROBE

WORLD CUP hosts Russia have been charged over alleged racist abuse by their fans during last month’s friendly against France.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele are believed to have been subjected to monkey chants during the match in St Petersburg, which is one of the venues for the tournament.

A FIFA spokesman said: “We can confirm that disciplinary proceedings have been opened against the Russian Football Union for this incident.”

Pogba was one of the scorers in France’s 3-1 win.
