MO BEATS RONI’S SCISSOR KICK

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

IN a season of unlikely feats by Mo Salah, one of his 40 goals has just been voted as better than THAT strike by Cristiano Ronaldo.

The amazing Ronaldo effort – where the Real Madrid superstar launched himself six feet off the ground to send a stunning overhead kick past Gianluigi Buffon – was lauded around the world. Yet in a global vote it won 30 per cent of the votes for goal of the round in the Champions League quarter-finals, with Salah’s delightful dink (right) for Liverpool at Manchester City getting 39 per cent.

The jury was made up of fans across the planet, with UEFA suggesting hundreds of thousands of votes were collected. For his Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, the latest acclaim came as no surprise. “Mo is an outstanding player,” said Klopp.

“That is why he has the accolades. He is involved in all our decisive moments.

“He gives us all a good feeling, so everybody is very happy for him.”
