One in 100 have autism in UK
THERE are 700,000 people in the UK with autism – more than one in 100.
Asperger syndrome is not an official diagnosis itself and sufferers are also referred to as having “high-functioning autism”. The cause is largely unknown. It is diagnosed in people aged over five showing difficulties with language, learning, social interaction and self care.
Sufferers like routine and may find it difficult to live independently and to handle their own finances.
