Sterling’s Pep talks lift Lions
ENGLAND are set to benefit from Raheem Sterling’s best season after the Manchester City star vowed to keep improving.
Sterling is on a high after a record 22 goals in all competitions to help City win the Premier League.
The forward has been criticised for his finishing and he has vowed to become more clinical, which is great news for England ahead of the World Cup.
Sterling, 23, said: “I just need to keep improving and focus on how I can help the team.
“I set my own targets and I aim to achieve them every season, but it’s more important to get the club to where it wants to be.
“It’s been a good season for me, but there are details I can change to make me sharper or more clinical. I always plan to improve.”
Pep Guardiola has nurtured Sterling since becoming City boss, even texting him when he was down after England’s embarrassing failure at Euro 2016, and the Three Lions ace says he is helping his development.
“It’s all about the basics with him,” he said. “It’s great for me to learn in this environment and improve as a player under him.”
