Jan: Spurs deserve Cup glory
JAN VERTONGHEN reckons Tottenham “deserve” a trophy to cap their progress in recent years and believes one will lead to many more.
And he has urged his team-mates to take a big step to breaking their silverware drought when they face Manchester United in Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final.
Spurs have not won any honours since the 2008 League Cup.
But they have been transformed under boss Mauricio Pochettino and gone close to trophy glory in the Premier League, League Cup and FA Cup during the Argentinian’s four years in charge.
Defender Vertonghen, 30, said: “Everyone at the club is looking forward to games like this and being in finals.
“This is definitely the best team I’ve played in at Tottenham. The club deserves a trophy for all the work we’ve put in and we hope Saturday can be the next step.”
