CHELSEA HAPPY TO SAY SARRI

- BY JOHN CROSS

NAPOLI boss Maurizio Sarri has moved a giant step closer to the Chelsea job.

The 59-year-old Italian (above) has made plain his desire to leave the Serie A outfit this summer, clearing the way for him to take charge at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have Sarri at the top of their shortlist as they look to appoint a successor to his fellow Italian Antonio Conte, who seems certain to leave at the end of a disappointing season for the Londoners.

Napoli are already believed to be looking for a successor to Sarri as they fully expect him to leave – and the strong belief in Italy is that he will get the Chelsea job.

Conte’s future is in serious doubt. Chelsea look like missing out on a Champions League slot and an FA Cup triumph – Blues meet Southampton in the semis this weekend – will not compensate.

Juventus boss Max Allegri and former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique are also on the Chelsea hit-list.

Mirror Sport revealed last week that Blues had stepped up their interest in Sarri, who has guided Napoli into second spot in Serie A, and he is clearly keen on the chance to move to the Premier League.
