1967: Reach quarter-finals of the InterCity Fairs Cup. 1976: Relegated from the top flight. 1987: Avoid dropping out of the Football League on the last day. 1995: Relegated to third tier where they languish for five years. 2009: Win promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs under Owen Coyle. 2010: Coyle quits for rivals Bolton and Clarets are relegated under Brian Laws. October 2012: Sean Dyche succeeds Eddie Howe (left) as manager with club languishin­g in Championsh­ip. 2014: Win automatic promotion back to the Premier League. 2015: Finish 19th and are relegated. 2016: Return to the Premier League as champions. 2017: Survive in the top flight for the first time since 1975. 2018: Set to qualify for Europe for the first time since 1966-67.
