Woman dies as fire guts care home
BLAZE Fire crews at scene A WOMAN died after a fire yesterday ripped through a care home for vulnerable people with learning difficulties.
The second floor and roof were completely destroyed in the blaze at the three-storey block.
The woman, believed to be in her 30s, died at the scene in Chingford, North East London.
A neighbour called 999 after spotting the blaze at 2am and 72 firefighters brought it under control.
Local MP and former Tory Party leader Iain Duncan Smith described it as a “terrible tragedy”. He also praised the neighbour for raising the alarm.
The supported living flats are run by Sequence Care who have relocated the other residents.
