KEAR IS THE KEY IN BULLS HUGE CLASH
Warrington v Bradford Ladbrokes Challenge Cup, 3pm CHALLENGE Cup shock specialist John Kear says his League One Bradford Bulls have a “free hit” at Super League Warrington today.
Kear masterminded the biggest cup final upset in history when he guided Sheffield to lifting the 1998 trophy, before backing it up with Hull FC in 2005.
The odds facing his third-tier Bulls team are longer than either of those, with the high-flying Wolves expected to brush their opponents aside.
But Kear says Bradford – looking to claw their way back up the divisions after a dramatic decline – have nothing to lose.
He said: “It’s a free hit. It’s the only time this year we can be the big underdogs, and it’s allowed us to have a smile on our faces this week.
“We’ve really enjoyed work and meetings, and we just want to be able to say that we’ve given our very, very best.
“As long as we play well that’s a plus; if we play exceptionally well and the scoreboard indicates that, then great. I went to my first Challenge Cup final 51 years ago and ever since then the competition has been very special to me.”
