‘Salt poison mum’ jailed

A MOTHER found guilty of deliberately poisoning her toddler with salt was yesterday sentenced to four years in jail.

The mother, who cannot be named, had been found guilty of giving 21 to 24 grams of salt to her 18-month-old girl with intent to endanger the child’s life or cause GBH at Truro crown court.

Experts said it was “a miracle” the tot survived the dose, force-fed in either a drink or runny food, at her home in the St Austell area of Cornwall last April.
