Shocking system leaves hard-working women poorer
IT’S shocking women are still getting a duff deal on state pensions – and that it will take decades before the system pays out a fair amount to both sexes.
I speak to readers every day with heartbreaking stories of how they struggle to make ends meet during retirement. Bringing in the new, flat rate pension was the Government’s chance to make the system fairer. But it is a shambles. Those on older pensions are almost £40 a week worse off than those who retired from April 2016. Our most vulnerable are getting poorer.
That makes me angry for our hardworking readers, many of who have almost 50 years of NI contributions – yet still get short changed.
