MOURINHO: I WILL GET KILLED IF WE DON’T WIN IT NOW

- BY JOHN CROSS

JOSE MOURINHO claimed he is on a hiding to nothing and will get “killed” unless Manchester United win the FA Cup.

Mourinho is determined to finish the season with silverware after reaching next month’s final, but said he is a victim of his own success and it will be viewed as a disaster if they lose.

The United boss said: “When I don’t win, you kill me. Because I almost do that all the time, when I don’t do it, you kill me, which is what you are all ready to do.” Mourinho also warned that United are expecting to spend again this summer and hinted he fears Marouane Fellaini will leave as the Belgium midfielder has yet to sign a new deal.

Mourinho (above) added: “We are going to invest the basic to improve our squad.

“We need to find a replacement for Michael Carrick. If Marouane Fellaini leaves, we need to find a replacement for Marouane Fellaini.

“In the squad, there is always a player or a couple of players, they are not playing a lot, and about all we could have hoped for and, at the moment, we are achieving those.

“With Manchester City so far ahead in the Premier League we had to give ourselves the best possible chance of winning a trophy and we feel we have done that.

“At Manchester United there’s a lot of expectation, there are demands that you don’t get at other clubs.

“It’s just about consistency now. We have shown more consistency this year.

“Obviously Manchester City have shown the ultimate consistency but I think we’re getting there, especially after playing in some very big games over the last few months.” they will try obviously to leave. So we are going again to touch our squad and to believe that more than spend, spend, spend, is probably the evolution of our players.

“We have some young players that need to get opportunities with their evolution, so let’s see.

“But in this moment, I don’t even think about next season or the final, I think about Arsenal because we need one point to finish top four.

“And we need seven points to finish second, we deserve to finish second and we have to finish second.”
