MOYES: HE’S NO ORDINARY JOE SO TAKE HIM TO RUSSIA

- BY JOHN CROSS

DAVID MOYES backed Joe Hart to go to the World Cup following his Emirates heroics. The England keeper (left) came back from his error against Stoke on Monday to pull off wonder saves from Granit Xhaka and Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck (above, right). And West Ham boss Moyes urged England coach Gareth Southgate to take him to Russia this summer. “Joe made two brilliant saves, well done to him after a difficult week,” said Moyes. “I worked with Jordan Pickford, who I think is really, really good, so it’s whether England think in some of these games they need someone who’s more experienced. “Joe gives you that. He made a mistake during the week, Joe knew that, but today he played very well.” Moyes believes that whoever replaces Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager will get a plum job. The Scot, who succeeded Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United said: “When I took over, United were champions with maybe some older players.

“Arsenal are not champions and I think that they’ve not got that many old players.

“They’ve got a young team so maybe the expectations at Arsenal are not the same as they were at Manchester United.

“Whoever gets the opportunity should take it with both hands because it’s a great club.

“I’m sure there’ll be many elite managers keen to choose an elite club. But I don’t think there are many who can completely change a club – and I think you have to say Arsene Wenger has done that in his time here.”
