But they will go to Celtic Park as a club in crisis despite reclaiming second spot with a 2-1 win over Hearts at Ibrox.

Celtic blew the chance to wrap up the title on Saturday by going down 2-1 at Hibernian.

But the repercussions from the 4-0 Scottish Cup semi-final mauling by their city rivals the previous week are still being felt in the Rangers camp.

Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace were suspended following a dressing-room row with manager Graeme Murty.

And fans raised banners during the Hearts match reading: “No fight, no pride. Nowhere to hide. Incompetent on & off the pitch. We deserve better” and: “Mindless behind the scenes, heartless on the pitch.”

Murty backed the protestors. “The fans are fully within their rights to do what they see fit,” he said. “I’d never go against their wishes.”

Goals from Jason Cummings (above) and Daniel Candeias saw off Hearts, who replied through a Christophe Berra header from a free-kick.

A Jamie Maclaren tap-in and sub Vykintas Slivka’s header gave Hibernian the advantage, with Odsonne Edouard replying for Celtic late on.

That prevented the Hoops from celebrating a seventh consecutive title at Easter Road.

Boss Brendan Rodgers said: “They were obviously very intent to not let there be a party for us.”

Hibs boss Neil Lennon, the former Celtic player and manager, added: “I don’t get any enjoyment out of it.”
