Putin ‘veto is a green flag’ to evil Assad
SUPPORT Vladimir Putin RUSSIA poses a “grave threat” to world order, says International Development Minister Penny Mordaunt.
And President Vladimir Putin’s “flagrant disregard” for law is a risk to the security of every country.
Ms Mordaunt will tell a conference in Brussels that Moscow’s backing of Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad has given him a free rein.
She will use the meeting today to appeal to Russia and Iran to use their influence to force the Assad regime to negotiate.
Ms Mordaunt will add: “In wielding its UN veto 12 times on Syria, Russia has given a green flag to Assad to perpetrate human rights atrocities.
“The only solution to end the suffering in Syria is a political settlement.”
