Paris terror plot suspect’s 20 years’ jail
THE only surviving suspect from the 2015 Paris terror attacks was jailed for 20 years yesterday for a shootout with police.
Salah Abdeslam, 28, was convicted in Belgium of attempted murder with co-defendant Sofien Ayari.
The pair fired at cops who raided their Brussels hideout in 2016. Judge Marie France Keutgen said: “Only the officers’ professional response prevented it being worse.”
Prosecutors believe Frenchman Abdeslam helped mastermind the attacks which targeted the Bataclan concert hall, stadium, restaurants and bars, killing 130 people and injuring hundreds more.
Abdeslam will later face trial for the Paris atrocity. Ayari, 24, a Tunisian, was also jailed for 20 years.
