Full-fisted film fun that takes fans to Infinity …and beyond

GANG Scene from Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War (12A) Running time 149min

THE gloves come off in Marvel’s most epic superhero adventure yet – a full-fisted, multi-coloured cinematic smack in the face.

Earth’s mightiest heroes face their biggest challenge when alien warlord Thanos, played by Josh Brolin, seizes the Infinity Stones. Once the stones are attached to his gauntlet of power, he will be able to destroy half the universe in an instant.

And although the Avengers effectively disbanded at the end of 2016’s Civil War, they reunite to stop Thanos.

TENSION

Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America lead the charge as the heroes run, fly and swing into battle. With the stakes so high the script is packed with jokes to ease the tension, spread through the huge cast. Inevitably, some heroes go missing in action. Fan faves die in the opening scene, and from then on all bets are off. Ten years in the making, Infinity War is a jaw-dropping, full-throated outrageous adventure. Bigger, bolder and more shocking than you could hope for. It is unmissable and unprecedented. Fans will be dumbfounded by the direction the movie takes the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Spider-Man and the Scarlet Witch are my stand-outs. There was even a brief but unforgettable appearance Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury. You must see it and you must stay till the very, very end. By then, the audience was left in stunned silence. With next year’s sequel already in the can, it looks as if Marvel’s war on the box office will go to infinity and beyond. See this one before you hear the spoilers. See it fast. See it now.
