SILENCE GOLDEN FOR JUDD
SNOOKER
JUDD TRUMP hopes his silentassassin approach will pay off against former Asda delivery driver Chris Wakelin today.
The Juddernaut crashed and burned in the first round of the Betfred World Championship 12 months ago after proclaiming it was his year.
But world No.3 Trump has toned it down ahead of the clash with qualifier and Crucible debutant Wakelin – and even come off his beloved Twitter.
Trump, a finalist in 2011 and desperate for a first world title, has won the European Masters this season – but frustratingly lost a final and five semi-finals.
Trump (above) said: “I have tried to stay under the radar more this year and let my snooker do the talking. And I came off Twitter in November.
“The season hasn’t been bad but there have been a few disappointing semi-final defeats.”
Ding Junhui, the 2016 runner-up, got his latest Crucible bid off to a flier with a 10-3 win over compatriot Xiao Guodong.
