Meghan’s kiss for dad Wills
HER BOND WITH FUTURE BROTHER-IN-LAW:
THE Duke of Cambridge joked about the name of his newborn baby prince yesterday – as the young royals got back to public duties.
His future sister in-law Meghan Markle greeted him with a kiss as she and Harry joined Wills for an Anzac Day service at Westminster Abbey.
The bride-to-be looked at home at the heart of the close-knit family, wearing black for the memorial.
Wills was not letting on as he played along with baby name suggestions. As he met New Zealand High Commissioner Sir Jerry Mateparae, the Dean of Westminster joked: “Jerry would like it to be Jerry.” William replied, with a smile: “Jerry’s a strong name.” He also hinted “Alexander” was a contender – despite the fact it is son George’s middle name – chatting to Australian High Commissioner, Alexander Downer.
Mr Downer asked: “Have you thought of the name Alexander for him?”
William replied: “Funny you should say that. It’s a good name.” Wills said Kate and baby were “very well”, adding: “Sleeping’s going reasonably well, he’s behaving himself which is good.”
The service honoured Australians and New Zealanders who have served and died in conflict. And Meghan had earlier joined Harry for the Anzac dawn service at Wellington Arch at Hyde Park Corner.
There she pressed noses with a Maori performer and signed her first remembrance book.
Kate remained at home at Kensington Palace as her brother James visited and mum Carole helped out by picking up George from school.
Bookies enjoyed another day of betting on the baby name as Alexander and Albert received a flurry of late bets.
