‘Mr Novichok’ is run over & flees hospital
THE Russian scientist who created Novichok fled hospital yesterday after he was run over on a crossing.
Vladimir Uglev, 71, suffered head wounds and arm and leg injuries.
But he discharged himself in the Russian Black Sea resort of Anapa a day after the accident, against medical advice.
Uglev said: “Doctors wanted me to stay but I said, ‘Bugger you, I’m not sticking around here’.”
He said of the accident: “The car was going fast, not slowing down ahead of the crossing. I started to run and nearly reached the end, when the car got me.”
Uglev has been widely quoted since claims his nerve agent was used in the attack on ex-spy Sergei Skripal, 66, and daughter Yulia, 33 in Salisbury, Wilts.
