MPs ‘using anti-Jewish row to attack Jeremy Corbyn’
A CLOSE union ally of Jeremy Corbyn today accuses Labour MPs of using the row over anti-Jewish prejudice in the party to undermine him.
Unite general secretary Len McCluskey writes in the New Statesman: “You would have to go back a long way to find such a sustained smearing by MPs of their leader and their party.”
He says members voicing “vile” anti-Semitism “have no place”. But he warns “Corbyn-hater MPs” are “working to present the party as a morass of misogyny, anti-Semitism and bullying. A few dozen appear to wake up thinking ‘how can I undermine Jeremy Corbyn?’.” A Labour spokesman said Mr Corbyn does not believe claims of anti-Semitism are a smear. He added: “He is absolutely committed to eradicating antiSemitism in the Labour Party.”
