Tycoon started out with £300 and is now worth £5.2bn

SHAHID Khan was born in Lahore, Pakistan, and arrived in the US as a teenager with just £300 in his pocket. His current net wealth is £5.2billion, making him the 217th richest person in the world, according to the 2018 Forbes rich list. Khan went to study engineerin­g – working nights as a pot-washer – and went on to become an automobile parts manufactur­er. His success was down to a design for a one-piece truck bumper and his firm now emplys over 24,000 people. The 67-year-old lives in Naples, Florida, and owns a £150million superyacht called Kismet, which won the 2015 World Superyacht Award and is available for charter at £1.2million a week. Khan also has three private jets, all registered to his firm Flex-n-gate. He has two children with wife Ann Carlson Kahn, who he married in 1977. Ann is active with the family’s philanthro­pic activities through the Jaguars Foundation. HONOUR National awards
