Fatal illness is linked to Blitz
A WOMAN of 80 died of an asbestos-related disease caused by exposure to Second World War bomb damage, an inquest heard.
Sheila Gow died last July, a month after being diagnosed with metastatic epithelioid mesothelioma.
Husband John told the hearing in her home city of Exeter, Devon, she was born in Blitz-hit Croydon.
In a narrative verdict, the coroner cited asbestos exposure as a child due to “reconstruction of bombdamaged buildings”.
