Ironically, the hottest dish in town is at frozen food giant Iceland which has just launched an eye-watering chicken meal twice the strength of Nando’s Extra Hot Sauce. The chain’s Red Hot Chicken Thighs (720g) for £3 feature bird’s eye, habanero and capiscum chillies to give it a scorching 575,000 on the Scoville chilli scale.

While not as explosive as Morrison’s Volcanic Vindaloo which registered one million on the Scoville scale when it hit shelves last year, it’s not for the faint-hearted, and Iceland chef Neil Nugent recommends a tub of yogurt to go with the chicken.
