In a meeting to brainstorm ideas for a new TV show, Matt LeBlanc gets a phone call from his dad’s annoying girlfriend Linda.
His dad apparently dropped dead while picking up a jar of mayonnaise in the supermarket.
The news kickstarts a brilliantly funny and farcical episode as Matt, with help from a reluctant Sean and Beverly (Stephen Mangan and Tamsin Greig), tries to deal with an onslaught of logistics. He is stuck between his equally demanding mother and stepmother, while also dealing with his grief – “I feel stuff!”
He also needs to make himself a sandwich (every now and again it’s like we’ve got Joey Tribbiani back).
Meanwhile, Carol (the brilliant Kathleen Rose Perkins) reveals to Beverly that she’s pregnant, leaving Beverly to tell her the truth that Merc is engaged to someone else. Carol is furious: “How big is the ring? Mariah Carey big?”
During a confrontation with Merc, you’ll be rooting for her.
