COLEMAN: CLEAR OFF RODWELL

- BY SIMON BIRD

JACK RODWELL has been told to go and “play for someone else” by Sunderland boss Chris Coleman.

Coleman claims former England midfielder Rodwell, training with the Under-23s, chose not to be involved in Sunderland’s doomed relegation fight, despite being paid £70,000 a week.

Coleman yesterday claimed he did not know where the 27-year-old (above) was, but later clarified by saying: “He’s not in the firing line with the rest of us, which he chose. When I say don’t know where he is, I mean physically and mentally, and there’s no interest from me because he’s not the answer for us.

“He’s got one more year on his contract and he doesn’t want to play for us so fine, go and play for somebody else.”
