Teddies and balloons left in tribute by boy’s ‘army’
FIGHTER Family’s photo of Alfie A STREAM of well-wishers left tributes to tragic Alfie yesterday at the entrance to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, where he lost his fight for life.
Hundreds of supporters had gathered in a neighbouring park on Saturday, releasing balloons to celebrate his short life.
And yesterday more members of “Alfie’s army” arrived to leave flowers, cards, teddies and more balloons at the makeshift shrine.
Distraught mum Kate left her own tribute on Facebook, writing: “We love you Alfie we do, we love you Alfie we do, we love you Alfie we dooo, oh Alfie we love you.”
HEARTBROKEN
Our sister paper the Sunday Mirror revealed how dad Tom had spent the final 10 minutes of Alfie’s life trying desperately to keep him alive by giving him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
Announcing his death, tearful Tom later wrote on Facebook: “My gladiator lay down his shield and gained his wings… Absolutely heartbroken.”
Thanking well-wishers, Kate added: “Our baby boy grew his wings tonight. We’re heartbroken. Thank you for your support.”
