I love this photo of my late parents, John and Emily Dawson, nee Gillott. It was taken at a photographer’s studio in Manchester not long after they were married in 1938. I think they made a handsome couple. Mam and Dad were born in Salford and were still teenagers when they married at St James’s Church in Pendleton. In their later years they both loved gardening.
