LAMBO: KOP TO CRUISE IT

-

PAUL LAMBERT knows what it takes to win the Champions League - and believes Liverpool have got it.

Lambert triumphed with Borussia Dortmund in 1997, when they upset Juventus, and is impressed by the Reds’ firepower.

The Scot, who is now unbeaten in six games at Anfield as a manager, is confident Mo Salah and Co will score in the Stadio Olimpico to see off Roma.

“They’ve got a chance,” said the Stoke boss (above). “Roma were dreadful at Anfield. To be cut open the way they were, was incredible.

“I played in the best team in Europe in my own time and know what it takes to win that competition. Listen, it’s easy to pull three goals back when you’re at home, the adrenaline is pumping and everything is going for you.

“But can Liverpool score over there? Yes. And if they score, the tie is finished.

“I think Roma will hang on to the fact they kept out the best player in the world, Messi, and Suarez in the quarterfinal, and think they can do it again.

“The crowd will be behind them and they’ll throw everything at it.

“But if Liverpool can defend strongly, they have the speed on the counter-attack to score.

“And if they score, the tie is finished.”
