Garden star Monty Don slams BBC for axing show to screen snooker

But actress Suranne Jones, 39, joked online that it was one of her husband’s “favourite” photos of her.
Jennifer Lopez has also had a male body double, while David Jason had a woman do a stunt for him.
Will Smith, Michael J Fox and Mark Wahlberg’s lookalikes were 2 good and Robert De Niro also found a good fella as a stand-in.
GARDENERS’ World star Monty Don blasted the decision to axe the show for snooker during National Gardening Week as a “load of balls”.
The horticultural event runs until Sunday but tomorrow’s episode of the growers’ bible is being replaced on BBC2 by the World Snooker Championship.
Don, 62, tweeted: “Not sure what it tells us but interesting that the BBC elected to replace Gardeners’ World with snooker during National Gardening Week.”
He added “#loadofballs” to make it clear how he felt.
He has previously slammed snooker as “cheap event TV” and says it causes a “crazy hiatus” for viewers seeking garden tips.
Last month a fan of Gardeners’ World, which celebrated its 50th birthday last year, asked: “Can you reduce the amount of time snooker will affect the schedule?”
Don tweeted: “The only people that can do that are the schedulers – and there is no sign of any foreseeable change.”
Last month Gardeners’ World, which is watched by up to 2.6 million viewers, was replaced by women’s football. The BBC called the show “a key part of its schedule” but added: “Our commitment to live sport sometimes means programmes are subject to change.”
