Singer Paul ‘mocked for being 5ft 3in’
MUSICIAN Paul Simon believes there is a “prejudice against small men”.
The Graceland singer, 76, claimed in a biography he has been mocked by his peers for being 5ft 3in.
Talking of his singing partner Art Garfunkel, he said in Paul Simon: The Life: “During a photo session Artie said, ‘No matter what happens, I’ll always be taller than you’.
“Did that hurt? I guess it hurt enough for me to remember 60 years later.”
He added: “There’s a prejudice against small men, that’s been a problem at times. It becomes a competitive thing.
“There’s this attitude that, ‘I’m taller, so I could beat you up, or I should be in charge’.” Robert Hilburn’s biography, by Simon & Schuster, is out next week.
