ABBA to take a chance on new material

- BY ASHLEIGH RAINBIRD

ABBA’S Benny Andersson says he is unsure if the new material will be any good.

The reunited Swedish quartet have recorded two tracks – their first music together since 1983.

Benny, 71, said: “Let’s try and see what happens and if we don’t think it’s good enough we won’t release it and if we think it is good enough we will.

“We still don’t know if they’re good, but we didn’t know when we released the other tracks either.”

Benny, co-writer of hits such as Dancing Queen, revealed the studio time had been “wonderful” and like “no time has passed”.

He was speaking at the press night for the West End revival of musical Chess, which he penned with bandmate Björn Ulvaeus and Tim Rice.
