Tories block bid for probe on Windrush
A BID to force the Government to release all papers and emails relating to the Windrush scandal has been voted out by Tories.
Furious Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott branded it “a betrayal of the Windrush generation”.
Labour had tried to force the publication of papers which could have revealed Theresa May’s role in the fiasco.
They demanded a full inquiry by the Home Affairs Select Committee, looking at decisions made back to 2010, when she was Home Secretary.
But the PM announced an internal Home Office review to “learn lessons”.
The number of potential Windrush cases reported to a specialist Home Office unit has risen to 3,000.
