DOCUMENTARY
ITV, 9pm Yes, it’s another royal weddingthemed documentary – but this one is surprisingly emotional and endearing.
It charts Prince Harry’s life, from the devastating grief of losing his mother Princess Diana as a boy, to active service as a soldier in Afghanistan, to his charity work and now the love story with American actress Meghan Markle who he’ll marry on May 19. There are some wonderful clips to savour, from a four-year-old Harry sticking his tongue out at photographers on the school run, to jumping the gun in a race with legendary sprinter Usain Bolt and playing with a baby at a sporting event.
“He can reach parts of the public that Prince Charles and Prince William can’t reach” observes one of the many commentators here.
With behind-closed-doors insight from friends, family and royal staff, this is a reminder of the nation’s huge affection for the “Heineken Prince”. POORLY Street dog Toto
