Eczema aids ‘no benefit’
ONE of the main treatments for child eczema has “no evidence of clinical benefit”, a study found.
Emollient bath additives to soften skin and ease pain cost £23million, about a third of NHS spending on the condition in children.
Tests found no difference in youngsters’ eczema when additives were used along with standard care.
Southampton University’s team said: “Research is needed into optimal regimens for leave-on emollient and soap substitutes.”
