Our picture shows Henry Cooper punching a speedball as he trained for his forthcoming match at Belle Vue, Manchester, where he would defend his Commonwealth Heavyweight title against Blackpool’s Brian London. Dubbed “Our ’Enry”, Cooper, who twice fought Muhammad Ali, trained underneath The Ship Inn in Bellingham, South East London close to where he was born with his twin brother, George. Today would have been the boxer’s 84th birthday.
