Star, 53, spends night in cells after row but police ‘will take no further action’
MICHAEL Le Vell has been arrested on suspicion of assault.
The star, 53 – Kevin Webster in Corrie – was treated in hospital after officers were called to his home.
He then spent the night at a Manchester police station, but the force says it will “take no further action”.
AFTER a 999 call at almost 11pm, Corrie star Michael Le Vell was arrested at the home he shares with his partner Louise Gibbons.
Le Vell, who in recent years has battled alcoholism, bankruptcy and was in the dock on child abuse charges, was arrested on suspicion of assault.
Officers have classed it as a domestic incident. Le Vell, 53, was firstly taken to A&E for treatment and was then held overnight at a central Manchester police station.
Greater Manchester police said it was called at around 10.50pm on Thursday to Timperley, in Trafford, to reports of an assault.
They added: “Officers attended and arrested a 53-year-old man, he was taken to hospital then taken into police custody for questioning. The man has since been released with no further action.”
There was no response at the £350,000 home after he left custody yesterday.
Le Vell – mechanic Kevin Webster in Corrie since 1983 – was reportedly offered £250,000 a year in 2017 to stay in the soap.
But in March it emerged he had been declared bankrupt, with a “six-figure” bill.
He stood trial in 2013 accused of abusing a girl but he was cleared on all charges. In court he admitted being an alcoholic and cheating on his wife Janette Beverley. They split in 2011.
Le Vell, spotted at the Cheltenham Festival two months ago, was temporarily dropped from the ITV soap in 2014 after confessing to snorting coke.
He met Louise, 42, four years ago. She was seen wearing an engagement ring in December.
