Beeb man’s aid to troop attack victim

- BY ANDREW ARTHUR

BBC travel presenter Simon Reeve has revealed how he helped a refugee whose skull had been fractured by the military.

Reeve bandaged the young man’s heavily bleeding head and took him to a field hospital.

The victim was a Rohingya Muslim attacked in Myanmar, formerly Burma, after crossing back there from Bangladesh to check his farm.

He was one of hundreds of thousands of Rohingyas driven from their Myanmar homes since August.

Reeve said: “It’s the 21st century… and still terrible things are happening. We don’t seem capable of stopping or resolving them.”

The adventurer’s twopart BBC2 series, Burma With Simon Reeve, starts on Sunday at 9pm.
