A SECURITY guard ordered a CCTV camera to be turned away from her husband before he murdered a homeless man, a court heard.

Sarah Finnie, 36, tracked Anthony “Tosh” Richardson, 45, on camera after he was abusive when she ejected him from a shopping mall, the jury was told.

Finnie phoned her husband Marc, 44, and he attacked Mr Richardson as he was bedding down at a bank.

She told a CCTV operator over the radio there was a suspicious man nearby and he shifted the view of the camera away from where the attack was happening, it is claimed.

Marc Finnie’s last punch “propelled” the victim’s head against the pavement and he died of head injuries, the court heard.

The husband and wife are both accused of murder.

Tim Roberts QC, prosecuting, told Sheffield crown court: “The man responsible for killing Mr Richardson is Marc Finnie. He admits being the attacker. You will decide whether Mr Finnie is guilty of murder or guilty only of manslaughter, as he suggests.” Mr Roberts added: “Sarah Finnie wanted her husband to punish Mr Richardson swiftly for what he had said and done to her that day,” He said Sarah Finnie knew that Camera 68, above an entrance to Freshney Place Shopping Centre in Grimsby, was viewing Mr Richardson. Mr Roberts said: “Her interference with camera 68 provides critical proof of the intention shared with her husband, to inflict serious harm on Mr Richardson in swift punishment for his recent behaviour towards her.” She denies murder. Also on trial over the January 15 murder is security guard Gary Clarke, 36. He is said to have helped the couple but denies assisting offenders. The trial continues.
