Fury v Fury? NO CHANCE

Family feud has no place in ring says Hughie

- BY DAVID ANDERSON

HUGHIE FURY claims he would never fight cousin Tyson Fury... despite their fall-out.

Hughie and Tyson are estranged and have not spoken since Hughie’s dad Peter stopped training the former heavy -weight champ (right).

An all-Fury clash would be huge but Hughie, who challenges British titleholder Sam Sexton at Bolton’s Macron Stadium tonight, has ruled out fighting Tyson, who makes his comeback on June 9.

“I definitely wouldn’t fight him,” said the former world title challenger. “I wouldn’t lower myself to that level.

“Family is family even if you don’t speak. You don’t put yourself in the ring just for money.

“I’ve not spoken to him much but I wish him all the best and I hope he does well. If he gets a world title, he gets one. I’ve not got animosity for anyone.” The 23-year-old Hughie, who suffered his first pro loss to then-WBO champ Joseph Parker last time out, in September, hopes to earn a shot at Anthony Joshua. “Those are the fights I want,” said Hughie, whose fight against Sexton is live on Channel 5. “I believe styles make fights and I believe I’m Joshua’s worst nightmare.

“He’s not fought anyone who can box. I’d love that fight and hopefully one day I’ll get it.

“I need to beat Sam Sexton first and I’m not looking any further ahead than Saturday.

“Sam seems a decent man and I respect him outside of the ring. When the bell goes in there, it’s a different story.”
