DECISION DAY... MOORE OR LESS

- BY TIM NASH

WEST BROM caretaker boss Darren Moore will find out next week if he is to get the job on a more permanent basis.

Moore will have talks after tomorrow’s final Premier League game away to Crystal Palace.

The 44-year-old has emerged as a serious contender after dramatically arresting the club’s slide with three wins and two draws following his appointment.

The turnaround in form under Moore meant the Baggies, who looked doomed as early as March, fought off relegation until Wednesday night.

It is understood Moore and an experienced candidate will be recommended to the club’s Chinese owner Guochuan Lai. West Brom were set to make official approaches for Brentford’s Dean Smith and Leicester No.2 Michael Appleton but players and fans have backed Moore, who has stabilised the club following the chaos left by previous managers Alan Pardew and Tony Pulis.

Moore, asked about his Baggies future, said: “You’ll have to speak to the owners and chairman about that.

“I will speak to them next week. Whether that’s as one of the contenders we’ll wait and see. But things need to be sorted in regards to the new season.

“I think it’s important for everybody to know where we are. If the relegation situation had gone on until the end of the season, it might have been better to wait, but now we know where we are, things need to be organised.”
