2000: Arsenal were beaten by Galatasaray in a penalty shoot-out in the UEFA Cup final in Copenhagen.
2006: Arsenal were beaten 2-1 by Barcelona in the Champions League final in Paris.
2008: Portsmouth won the FA Cup, beating Cardiff 1-0 in the final with a first-half goal from Kanu.
2013: James Anderson took his 300th Test wicket, against New Zealand at Lord’s, the fourth English bowler to reach that landmark.
2014: Arsenal won their first trophy in nine years by beating Hull 3-2 at Wembley to claim the FA Cup.
2016: It was announced that 31 athletes had tested positive for doping following the retesting of samples for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
