DELIGHT Volunteer Mike AN 80-year-old former salesman heads for Windsor today despite first thinking his invite was a “hoax”.

Mike Bevington, a longserving volunteer for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, couldn’t believe it when the letter arrived.

It said he was one of 1,200 members of the public to be invited to the grounds of Windsor Castle.

A call to the Lord Lieutenant’s office revealed the letter was genuine.

The dad-of-two, from Harrogate, North Yorks, who will enjoy the day with wife Cathy, 60, said: “I am surprised and so grateful.”

When he was young, Mike was invited to London for the Queen’s Coronation as a member of the Yorkshire Combined Cadet Force.

PULLING off a fun Royal Wedding really does look like child’s play as the confetti flies.
