Julia so sad hubby didn’t see her CBE
ACTRESS Julia McKenzie, who played the Queen in the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony, has collected a CBE at Buckingham Palace.
TV’s Miss Marple said she was “very happy and also very sad” to pick up the honour after the recent death of her husband.
The 77-year-old said: “I was so surprised at my stage of life to get anything.”
She said she was sad her husband wasn’t with her, adding: “I’m sure he would have been proud.”
Author and broadcaster Melvyn Bragg was also at the Palace to receive his Companion of Honour.
Lord Bragg of Wigton, 78, is one of just 65 to have the award. Others include Dame Maggie Smith and Harry Potter author JK Rowling. He said: “I’m absolutely delighted.”
