Wedding a right royal Hullabaloo
I’m in Chester today with Pauline but the royals have forced us apart.
While she will be with her pals having a party to watch the wedding, I’ll probably go down the pub for a pint.
I wish Harry and Meghan well. But I can’t stick the fawning wall-to-wall coverage. And I’m not alone – 66% of the public are not interested and Hull is the only local authority in England not to have received a single application for a royal wedding street party.
I’m not surprised. In 1642 we turned King Charles I away from the gates of Hull. It ended up starting the English Civil War, Charles being executed and Britain becoming a republic.
