JOSE HAS SPECIAL GIFT OF WINNING ONE-OFFS
WHATEVER you may think of Jose Mourinho, he’s a specialist in success.
The Special One’s record in one-off finals throughout Europe is staggering. He has won 12 of his 14 previous European and domestic finals as manager, winning all six with English clubs. In sharp contrast, his counterpart Antonio Conte has lost both of his previous domestic finals and could become the first manager since Howard Kendall in the mid-80s to lose back-toback finals.
That aside, looking at the two teams who will do battle at Wembley this evening still makes depressing reading for the Blues.
Chelsea’s matchwinners Eden Hazard, Alvaro Morata and Willian have all seemed off the pace or out of form recently.
Compare that to United, who can boast a forward line with players either in good nick or keen to prove a point.
Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial – everywhere you look, United will field players who can usually be relied on to deliver in big matches.
Sanchez is a Wembley specialist, scoring eight goals in his eight games at the national stadium for club and country.
The Chilean is a whopping 15/2 (Hills) to notch the opener and 5/2 to score at any time.
Check the team news beforehand and if Lukaku doesn’t start, Rashford (below) at 10/3 to score looks brilliant value, too.
