MASTER TO LEAD THE WAY

- BY DAVE MITCHELL

GLENCADAM MASTER and Communique made their seasonal debuts in the same race at Sandown last month.

The latter easily came out on top and they meet on the same terms at Newbury.

Communique handled soft going the better of the pair that day but expect a switch in finishing positions on today’s quicker ground.

Glencadam Master put up a fine display to get within two lengths of Godolphin’s Ispolini at Kempton in November. The winner went on to be narrowly beaten in the Sandown Classic Trial last month, so a repeat of that effort would be good enough for John Gosden’s grey to score this afternoon.

Gosden (above) pulled STREAM SONG out of the Oaks trial at Lingfield last week and the filly will be better suited by today’s conventional track than the Surrey undulations.

At Newmarket, YAFTA will take plenty of beating, even if just repeating his course form of a fortnight ago.
