Stab victims are running scared

Teenage victims of stabbing and shootings are reportedly too scared to go to hospital for treatment because they’re worried about being reported to the authorities. Instead, some are going to back street clinics and even to vets to be patched up.

It’s saying something when a person who could potentially die would rather be treated by someone more used to nursing cats, dogs and pet gerbils.

Of course, the police must be called when someone is a victim of violent crime. But maybe it would help matters if they didn’t automatically make victims feel like criminals.
