Shocker! Kids clueless on rock

- IAN HYLAND on last night’s telly

Ross Barton was having a bad day at the office over on

Emmerdale last night. His car, which contained the drugs he was meant to deliver to evil gangster Connor, was stolen by schoolchildren. Yeah, I know. I hate it when that happens too.

To be honest, if I was Ross I’d be more annoyed that the kids went on to slag off his CDs. I mean, kids today. How can they not see that Motorhead’s Ace Of Spades is one of the greatest rock songs ever? Anyway, given the speed with which Connor and his comedy henchman showed up at Ross’s looking for his stash, Ross probably would’ve been just as well doing his delivery on foot in the first place.

Still, at least it allowed the writers to inject a little jeopardy into proceedings.

Connor set his stopwatch and told Ross that if Debbie – she’d popped round to tell Ross she was getting back with Tom – didn’t retrieve his gear within the hour there would be trouble.

So far so soapy and ridiculous, right? But then came the sucker punch – literally. After succeeding in her mission, Debbie decided to give Connor a piece of her mind.

He responded by punching her in the face, leaving her bloodied and bruised on the ground.

I know the soaps are engaged in a contest to see who can be the darkest and/or most violent right now, but I found this really shocking for 7.30pm on a weeknight.

I hope Connor will be seen to get his comeuppance, either legally or morally. Preferably both.
